NPI short workshops for 2016/17

We are pleased to offer a series of continuing education workshops and seminars  for CE credit and to stimulate thought and conversation.

MFTs and LCSWs: CEUs provided by California BBS Provider #PCE97.
Psychologists:  The Newport Psychoanalytic Institute is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Newport Psychoanalytic Institute maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Full attendance is required for psychologists to received credit; partial credit may not be awarded based on APA guidelines.   This program does not have any commercial support interest for sponsors, instructors, content of instruction, or any other relationship that could reasonably be construed as a conflict of interest. Instructors are paid from the funds collected from admission.

Featuring: "The Watch Tower" (2013)
A Turkish film about two individuals whose paths cross after each having lived isolated in separate ways due to earlier personal traumatic events.
It's described as "a rustic character study of the best kind - poetic, personal and thoughtful."

A discussion after the movie will be facilitated by Jane Mathews, PsyD

Jane Mathews, RN, PMHCNS-BC, NP, Psy.D., is a registered nurse in California since 1979, and board certified as a certified as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist, and a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner since 1994. She completed analytic training in 2010, and she is currently a faculty member at the Newport Psychoanalytic Institute (NPI).  Her background in medical and analytic areas allow for an understanding of ways to approach client’s concerns with both physical and psychological dimensions,
and relate newer aspects of research in a user-friendly way for therapists.

Cost: General Admission Donation $10.00 or for CE/CEU credits $20.00

BBC production based on a true story of "a woman of uncertain origins 'temporarily' parked in the driveway of a playwright - for 15 years,"
the story of their relationship, and the slow unveiling of her story as later written by the writer.

Marcia Baldeschwieler, Psy.D., is a graduate of the Graduate Center for Child Development and Psychotherapy (now the Reiss-Davis GCCD&P). She has worked diagnostically and/or therapeutically with children and their families in such varied settings as the Maryland Health Department; the Gaebler Children’s Unit, Massachusett’s hospital for disturbed children; Stanford University Department of Psychiatry Child Guidance Clinic; Centinela Child Guidance Clinic, and in private practice. As a faculty member of NPI, she taught classes in child and adolescent development.
