There are a few things you should know about Continuing Education at Newport Psychoanalytic Institute

We are an equal opportunity organization at all levels and in all ways—in employment, training, and consultation. Every effort will be made to accommodate minority, disadvantaged, and challenged individuals in whatever way possible. Contact us with your needs.

  1. We abide by the Codes of Ethics of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychoanalytic Association and agree to honor in whatever ways possible the ethical codes of the other mental health professions.
  2. All grievances are to be taken up with NPI directly by calling the main office at 714-505-9080.  Your concerns will be forwarded immediately to the President or Dean.  If a disagreement arises then within 30 days a third party suitable to both parties will be sought to mediate.
  3. Enrollment fees, procedures, and refund polices are usually spelled out on the brochures advertising each course and appear below.
  4. Enrollment in Continuing Education courses is generally limited to persons who are licensed in or students in one of the mental health disciplines. Exceptions will be carefully screened for appropriateness by the Director. All courses are in the intermediate to advanced training level for licensed therapists.
  5. Continuing Education courses at the center generally do not use confidential materials however it sometimes may arise in the course of discussion of mental health cases pertaining to the topic at hand. But it is the responsibility of the instructor to introduce confidential matters in a professional and ethical manner and to check to be certain that the situation is appropriate and secured.
  6. In the highly unlikely event that any educational procedure is deemed to be potentially stressful, every attempt to clarify this possibility and to notify participants in advance will be made.
  7. The center generally teaches from a psychoanalytic model that does not include untested, unproven, “breakthrough” types of findings or techniques. Should any unproven, speculative, or innovative findings or techniques be referenced they will be clearly advertised as such.
  8. Please take up any questions with our main office at 714-505-9080 and/or the course facilitator/instructor.
